Life drawing session | Nice Flaps x Ariane Toussaint

You are warmly invited to the life drawing session inside the exhibition 'Ouvrages de Dames' by Ariane Toussaint. For two hours two models will pose while bathing in the pools of coloured light, acting out a choreography in the space that will contrast the abstract nature of Ariane's textile works.

The drawing session will echo the colour and geometry of the works by allowing the audience to draw it in relation to the human body. It will also help consider themes of privacy, intimacy and vulnerability that occur when thinking about curtains and the naked body.

Details:

14:00-16:00

Location: See Lab, Scheveningen

€5-15 sliding scale

it is part of an ensemble

part 50 (thanks for putting on the feedbag) it is part of an ensemble at See Lab (Sept 1 – Oct 6)

This September and October, the collective it is part of an ensemble takes over the project space at See Lab for a five-week residency. The group transforms the space into a fluid studio for sound, music, drawings, objects, performance and everything in between. With a strong focus on process, collaboration, and experimentation, the project welcomes anyone interested — for a day, a week, or the full duration.

Workshops, shared dinners, beach walks, nocturnal moth expeditions, and experiments with clay instruments and aquaphones are all part of the plan. The space is intentionally low-threshold, especially for those who feel less at home in the traditional art world.

During the residency, the collective has been working on recordings for an upcoming LP at See Lab. How does a collective create a record? How does the freedom of improvisation relate to what is rehearsed? The flirtatious song of the wood pigeon, a visit to a dead room, a stove song, a choir of visitors, an anecdote about ten herons and an onion song — these have all found their way into the process.

We invite you to join us for:

Saturday 4 October, 17:00 – 22:00 Open studio, See Lab, Scheveningen

An evening of layer sessions, jam sessions and listening sessions — moments to share what has emerged and to explore together how a collective voice can take shape.

Made possible by Stroom Den Haag

Jewellery Making Workshop with Anca Barjovanu

Join us for the next jewellery making workshop where you are invited to create your own stunning sterling silver piece using colorful gemstones. Design a one-of-a-kind silver ring that reflects your style. Play with bold color gemstones—like green and pink or blue and orange—woven into an organically textured band. This workshop offers a unique learning opportunity for anyone who wants to dive into the art of silver clay.

Throughout the workshop you will be taught step by step how to build, sculpt and polish using silver clay - a very flexible and fun material that through the process of burning becomes solid sterling silver. Using specialised tools and materials, each participant will be able to create their desired piece in a safe and cozy environment, at the artist incubator, SeeLab. You will be guided through each step of the making by the visual artist and jeweller Anca Bârjovanu. Anca followed a bachelor in fine arts at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague after which she studied for a master degree in Jewellery Design and Goldsmithing at the Royal Academy in Antwerp. Opening: 06.12.2025 - 5:00 PM

About: Phantom Memorabilia

From a dream-like world, our phantoms emerge. They linger and follow us subconsciously through the mundanity of life, guiding and shaping our fantasies, memories and hidden longings. Intangible yet feeling real, these phantoms materialize through the symbolism of our past, where each piece of memorabilia serves as an associative point of connection to a specific time or experience.

The duo-exhibition titled Phantom Memorabilia explores the various pathways and rhythms of memory, emphasizing their constant movement between prominence, obscurity, and impermanence. The artistry of both Anca Bârjovanu and Catelijne Boele captures the delicate balance between memories that haunt us and those driven by a fantastical kind of nostalgia - resulting in a search that oscillates between the desire to let go and the need to preserve. Through their own visual language and magical worlds, they question which memories we selectively and willingly keep with us, and the ones we unwillingly and sometimes unknowingly store in our subconscious.
