SEE LAB - BAR SPACE

entree.jpg

This section shows the transformational journey of us turning the former tiled gym showers into a new entrance for our public program, with relaxing garden view.

The beautiful art deco portal (on the street side) used to be the entrance to the schoolyard. We are breaking out the gym showers and restoring it.

The new public entrance connects the See Lab studio building with the Project Space and the Garden. The space opens its doors to visitors during exhibitions and events. It will also be available for rent in the near future.

Stay tuned for a transformation view and the opening!!!

In Dutch they say “Goed werk heeft tijd nodig”. The transformational process of the space took a couple of years. It’s developed with joined forces of our See Lab members, without any funding. This is why we cut it up in a couple of phases.

Work in Progress
In between the phases we organised many exhibitions, lunches and events. Our handy See Lab team made it functional, cosy and comfy in between.

Green roof plan
See Lab cares about the climate. With the renovation of our new Public entrance space we explored possibilities of installing a green roof. With this green roofing we wanted to contribute to decreasing the urban heat island effect of Scheveningen. We made this visual to already get a glimpse of this. Unfortunately the new insulated roof is unable to carry the amount of extra weight. In future we will look for alternative options like placing solar panels or silent wind turbines to contribute to a better climate-proof city in different ways.
