Open Studios

22 & 23 November 2025 | 12:00 - 17:00 | Free entry | Duinstraat 57

On November 22 and 23, See Lab opens its doors once again to the public.

Explore the studios of See Lab makers and experience their creative practices, visit the group exhibition in the project room, enjoy delicious food and drinks in our bar, and listen to live music, in collaboration with Podium aan Zee.

About the group exhibition ‘Inside Out’
Inside Out brings together artists from See Lab in a collaborative exploration of their individual studio practices. The exhibition reflects on the significance of having a personal space for creation – a safe environment that shelters and shapes the thoughts and ideas of artists, giving them the physical space to let these evolve into different materialities.

There is an inherent vulnerability in the act of moving artworks from the privacy of the studio into the public sphere. Inside Out reveals this intimate process, turning emotions and ideas outward, not only into a physical but also a public realm. Through a wide range of different materials, from atmospheric paintings to edible sculptures and performative acts, the exhibition makes visible the nuance of the artists’ minds and emotions, and the diverse ways they give form to these inner worlds.

Through the interplay between diverse artworks and materialities, See Lab’s project space becomes a transitional area – where the private and the public, the inner and the outer, converge. Here, the thoughts, experiments, and emotions nurtured in the safety of the studio are not only transformed into physical form but also revealed in a visible space, vulnerable to the dialogue between works and the encounter with the public gaze. Inside Out invites visitors to witness this unfolding process, where creation and visibility intertwine, and the usually hidden layers of artistic practice are slowly revealed.

Music Program

Saturday November 22
Wally
“Landing somewhere between art-rock and chamber-pop the New Haven, CT/ Amsterdam, NL band Wally works both infectious hooks, and charming melodies into their songwriting that is both reminiscent of the 60’s neo-psychedelia movement, and emerging jangle-pop aptitudes. The group promptly delivers on their shared interest in artists like The Beach Boys, MGMT, and Neil Young through acoustic guitars, layered harmonies, horns, and vibrant synth patches which bring forth a refreshing, and unadorned contribution to the music that came before them." -Keegan Michael (Bruiser & Bicycle / Keta Ester)

Nieuw Warschau
Nieuw Warschau is an alternative classical music band focused on cross-genre and interdisciplinary means of enjoyment. Coming from conservatory background while also active in experimental electronic/jazz/club scene, our collective challenges the notion that those are separate worlds by exploring their shared spirit of innovation, introspection, and raw emotional power. Words to describe our work are: opinionated ambient, heartfelt savagery, misfired idioms, avant-garde a clue and a decent bit of bling.

Sunday November 23

On Sunday See Lab will transform into a vibrant musical meeting place, working together with Podium aan Zee. In the artists’ collective’s studios you’ll hear acoustic sets full of warmth, poetry and surprising sounds.

Featuring, among others, Babette Zwinkels, who is making a name for herself in the The Hague music scene with her dreamy pop full of subtle melancholy. In addition, Thijs & Maxime, Dick Paap and Pongo on the Radio will perform. Acts that each in their own way explore the boundaries between folk, indie and acoustic pop.

13:00 - 13:45 Babette Zwinkels
14:00 - 14:45 Thijs & Maxime
15:00 - 15:45 Dick Paap

Life drawing session | Nice Flaps x Ariane Toussaint

You are warmly invited to the life drawing session inside the exhibition 'Ouvrages de Dames' by Ariane Toussaint. For two hours two models will pose while bathing in the pools of coloured light, acting out a choreography in the space that will contrast the abstract nature of Ariane's textile works.

The drawing session will echo the colour and geometry of the works by allowing the audience to draw it in relation to the human body. It will also help consider themes of privacy, intimacy and vulnerability that occur when thinking about curtains and the naked body.

Details:

Sunday 19th October

14:00-16:00

Location: See Lab, Scheveningen
